Escondido Schools
Residents of Escondido are served by two school districts. The Escondido Union School district and The Escondido Union High School District.
Escondido Union School District
The EUSD offers students of Escondido a K-8 education. It has 17 - Elementary Schools (k-5), 1 - Intermediate School (grades 4-8), and 5 - middle schools (grades 6-8).
Escondido Union High School District
The EUHSD has seven high schools serving students of Escondido. The schools focus on helping their students succeed in college, career, and life.
Escondido Fun Facts
Escondido was controlled by Spain during the late 18th century through to the 19th century during which time it established missions to convert indigenous people. In 1846 during the Mexican-American War, the battle of San Pasqual was fought in Escondido. Fast forward to the present and Escondido is a large and growing city with a population over 150,000.
Kit Carson Park
The park was named after a leader of the Battle of San Pascual, Kit Carson. The park today is a 285 acre park in Escondido. Featuring a 5-acre arboretum, amphitheater with seating for 3,000, a 22,000sqft skate park, and a serious sports complex with many fields.
Downtown Escondido
Over the past few years the Downtown of Escondido has become more active with restaurants, cafes, galleries, and shops. The Second Saturday Art Walk and the Cruisin’ Grand car rally are examples of the active downtown community that exists in Escondido.

San Diego Zoo Safari Park
This animal park is a North County tourist attraction that is also a favorite of locals. Animals have open space to roam, take the safari tour around the park to watch different animals, even stop to see the rare platypus. Don’t forget to wear comfortable shoes!
Orfilia Vineyards & Winery
70 acres of vineyards located just 15 miles away from the pacific ocean provides the grapes a mediterranean climate. This winery offers plenty of open grass and tables to sit and enjoy wine at. Often times there is live music and a food truck to keep patrons well entertained!
California Center for the Arts, Escondido
The center offers a unique campus that has a 1,500 seat concert hall, and a 400 seat theater, a contemporary art museum, art and dance studios, and more. Hosting concerts, plays, comedians, local events, free concerts such as the Jazz Jam Sessions, and has a robust public education system.
