Solana Beach Schools
The Solana Beach community is served by two school districts. The Solana Beach School District and the San Dieguito Unifiied High School District.
Solana Beach School District
Founded in 1925 the district serves Solana Beach Students with Solana Vista (grades K-3) and with Skyline (grades 4-6).
San Dieguito Union High School District
SDUHSD Serves student residents of Solana Beach with Earl Warren Middle School and Torrey Pines High School.
Solana Beach History
After the Lake Hodges Dam was built in 1917-1918, Solana Beach then known as the Lockwood Mesa began to see development. Colonel Ed Flether purchased 140 acres for $20 an acre and began to develop the town of Solana Beach.
Fletcher’s Cover
During the roaring 20’s, one man spent three months using a fire house and hydraulic water pressure to erode tons of earth to create the Fletcher Cove entry and beach using spillway from the Lake Hodges Dam.
Solana Beach Train Station
The station was designed by architect Rob Wellington Quigley. With inspiration for the station coming from a group of Quonset huts that used to line North Cedros Ave during the 1940’s. In the late 1990s an $18 million dollar project helped lower the tracks and platform.
Solana Beach Lifestyle
Cedros Design District
With over 85 merchants, San Diegans and tourists alike find themselves drawn to Cedros. It is the host of the Solana Beach Farmers market on Sundays open at 12:00. Fashion boutiques, galleries, designers, architects, outdoor cafes, restaurants, and the iconic Belly Up Taven all call Cedros home for good reason.
Lomas Santa Fe CC
Offering the community both a private country club experience and a public executive experience, the Lomas Santa Fe Country Club is a pillar of Solana Beach. Play in club tournaments, grab a workout, play tennis, swim, or enjoy a drink of the patio.
Tide Beach Park
At the North End of Solana Beach is Tide Beach Park. Follow the long staircase down to a small beach surrounded by sea walls. This beach is known for its large reed or “Table Tops” and tide pools located to the North. This is one is a locals favorite.
